Colin and Carole's Creations, creating, payment, terms and conditions, delivery.

We are creative people and work for most of our time from our narrow boat "Emma Maye"

From this unusual base we provide various services that hopefully will be of interest to you, and you will enjoy the  experience of working with us to produce what you require.

Bespoke hand knitting

Carole takes a great delight and pleasure in creating unique hand knitted garments to your specifications.

You will have total choice over the style of your garment, be it a jumper, Gansey, hat or whatever you would like creating.

Carole will discuss with you exactly what you want, whilst advising on patterns, yarns, colours etc.

Carole's speciality is creating Ganseys, originally jumpers worn by fishermen, but also working canal boatmen.

Carole's Gansey's are created in a modern way, with traditional patterns from modern yarns, which makes these garments affordable whilst making them easier to maintain than garments created from traditional fibres.

Please also be aware that depending on the size of the garment it may not always be possible to reproduce a traditional pattern, eg a Filey pattern, in a symmetrical design.

Carole prefers to work from measurements that she takes herself, which will entail a visit to "Emma Maye" but if this is not possible she can create from measurements that you supply, and she will advise what actual measurements she needs.

Please be aware that if you do commission a bespoke garment it will be made to your specifications and in these circumstances cancellation rights would not apply and we would not be able to offer a refund. (Providing the item is not faulty or unfit for its purpose).

Yarn supplies

We are firm believers that the selection of yarn is a very tactile experience so would encourage you to come aboard "Emma Maye" to select your supplies.

We normally carry enough stock of a shade and dye number to create an average jumper sized garment. However at times, as in every stock situation ours can run a touch low, we will endeavour to get your requirements to you if we can't actually meet what you want on the day.

If you are coming for something specific we would strongly advise that you give us a phone call to check stock levels.

We believe in offering our yarns at fair prices, and whilst not being a warehouse type operation we can supply by mail order, BUT please be aware that postal charges
for bulky balls and skeins of yarn can be excessive, please contact us for prices of delivery.

We can take payment by cash or cheque, payable to "C Wareing" and either BACS payment or Pay pal through our on line shop.

We are afraid that due to our base being mobile we are not confident we can always get a mobile internet connection so to avoid disappointment we can not offer a credit or debit card payment.

UKonly: In general, items weighing less than one kilogram are dispatched by Royal Mail First Class Post and should arrive within a matter of days. Heavier items (such as multiple packs of wool) are sent by second class Parcel Post which normally takes some 3 to 4 working days.

PLEASE NOTE THAT ALL HAND-KNITTED GARMENTS ARE SENT BY ROYAL MAIL SPECIAL DELIVERY. This service guarantees next-day delivery and requires a signature. We obtain proof of posting for every item sent, and the Royal Mail
offers compensation of £20.00 should any item be lost in the post. In our experience
the Royal Mail offers a fast, safe service.

If in stock, all orders are dispatched within 24 hours, providing we are close to a post office.

If not in stock we will do our best to make sure that the wait for goods is as short as possible, but in these cases please allow 28 days for delivery or longer in the case of overseas surface parcels.
Please also be aware that specially ordered hand-knitted Garments can take from
4 to 8 weeks to be knitted.

By placing an order with us, a contract has been formed.
However, with the exception of bespoke hand knitted garments, you can cancel
your contract at any time up to fourteen working days after the receipt of the
goods. To do this, please e-mail or write to us. You do not have to give any
reason for cancellation; however, a brief explanation will help us to improve
the service we offer to customers in the future. This policy does not apply to
the bespoke items (that is, hand-knitted Garments), which are exempt from the
right to cancel.

If you cancel, you must return the goods to us at your own
expense. If the original payment to us was made by cheque, a refund for the
actual amount of the goods themselves will be sent by cheque. If the original
payment to us was made by pay-pal or BACS, a refund for the actual amount of
the goods themselves (not including the initial cost of postage, which is
non-refundable) will be processed to the same pay-pal or BACS account.

If you need to return any item to us, please ensure that you
at least obtain a certificate of posting. Returned goods must be unworn and
unused and in saleable condition: please ensure that the goods are packaged
adequately to protect against damage, and include the original labels and
packaging. If you fail to take reasonable care of the goods before they are
returned to us, and this results in damage or deterioration, we may have to
charge you for the reduction in value. This cancellation policy does not affect
your legal rights (for example, if goods are faulty or mis-described).
