We are open again, for appointments, sending out through the post and the Wool Boat will be open without appointments, for a couple of hours on Thursday afternoon and on Saturday and Sunday from 11 to 3
The Wool Boats plans for the week the of 13th January 2024 to 19th January 2025
We are generally open on the days specified under our opening hours, but we can arrange for you to visit at other times, by appointment.
Well that didn’t happen, getting away for our 18th Wedding anniversary a bit too cold and icy. At least Emma Maye is nice and warm.
The weather forecast is for it to get warmer, so hopefully by Wednesday the ice on the canal will have gone and we will be open near The Slipway pub on Crabtree Lane from 1 to 3 on Thursday the 16th of January when it’s knit and natter afternoon in the pub. All welcome.
We are then planning to be back open near Burscough Wharf on Saturday the 18th and Sunday the 19th open from 11 to 3.
Col is also doing a this week’s Thursday Treat of 25% off the bright and colourful “Party Time” chunky from James C Brett. Normally £3.60 a 100 gram ball, for this week, from Thursday the 16th to Wednesday the 22nd it is £2.70 per ball. Can be collected from the boat on Thursday and when we are open afterwards, or by appointment until 15.00hrs on Wednesday the 22nd.
Other than that, we are available by appointment, please give us a ring and we’ll make arrangements for your visit.

New shade of Party Time stripes in stock on The Wool Boat today the 6.1.2024 “Lime cordial”. We got a stock of 30 balls, but l’ve claimed 10 for my garment knitting, so the rest are for sale at £3.60 a ball. I’ve started knitting with it so should have a sample to show you of how it knitts up by tomorrow. Carole

Into the New Year with a short week as there are a couple of football games for Col to go to, at Chester and a long away day to Southend on Saturday for a F A Trophy game.
Depending on the weather we will be open near The Slipway pub on Crabtree Lane from 1 to 3 on Thursday the 2nd when it’s knit and natter afternoon in the pub. All welcome.
Col is also doing a Thursday Treat of 25% off all sock yarn we have on the boat for these few hours only and needs to be collected.

Sunday stitches this week, a finished baby blanket
A lovely soft hand knitted baby blanket in colours of pastel and twinkly shades of pinks, lilac, green and lemon. The blanket has a chevron pattern knitted into it with the bottom border having a scalloped edge. The blanket is easy care, being machine washable at 30C and measures 19” by 24” (47 by 65 cm) and has been created from James C Bretts “Baby Twinkle Prints” acrylic double knitting yarn, shade Btp 23.
Carole Wareing has designed and hand knitted this blanket, this is Carole of Colin and Carole’s Creations based on a narrow boat named “Emma Maye” and also known as The Wool Boat that is based on the Leeds and Liverpool canal in Burscough in West Lancashire.

A Dragon tooth shawl hand knitted aboard the narrow boat “Emma Maye” in Lancashire by Carole Wareing of Colin and Carole’s Creations. This handcrafted garment is an adult sized shawl, one of Carole’s exclusive and unique range knitted, from a discontinued wool based yarn that was produced by West Yorkshire Spinners. The yarn used for this shawl is 75% Wool and 25% nylon and so nice and warm. The colours are oranges, reds and creams. The stitches used to create this shawl have produced a textured structure to the garment. The shawl is 62 inch long and 11 inch deep at its widest point and has about 57 dragon’s teeth.
