I’m not originally from Burscough, I was brought up in the village of Banks about 5 miles from Burscough. But since making the move onto a canal boat moored near Burscough in about 2009 Burscough has become home.
So lots of walking and boating in the area has meant I’ve now got quite a extensive collection of images from the area

A Leyland Boxer tow truck in the show ring at the Heskin Steam and Vintage rally held over the weekend of 31st of May and 1st of June 2025.
This Boxer has been fitted out as a tow truck and has been used for many years in this form by the Yates family of the Bull and Dog garage of Burscough in West Lancashire.

During October 2025 one of the old WW11 era hangers of HMS Ringtail was reroofed.

The lads are working away on an old aircraft hangar, reroofing it at Allan Booths Haulage on the Burscough industrial estate.
The industrial estate is built on the former site of HMS Ringtail an airfield dating from the 2nd world war when it was used by the Royal Navy to train pilots.
A number of the old aircraft hangers have been repurposed with this one being used for lorry and trailer maintaince by Allan Booth Haulage.
The hangers were constructed using corrugated iron sheets and in October 2025 the sheets on this hanger where being replaced with new ones.

The Spar and Shell service station on Briars Lane in Lathom is being upgraded and thus the old building is being demolished and taken away in skips.
On this bright summer’s morning in June a Inglenorth Contraction excavator is loading parts of the building into a large skip.
A new building is being built on the site to the left of the machine on the former Smiths garages site.

Anwyl are one of the housing companies building new homes on the former Yew tree farm and HMS Ringtail airfield in Burscough in West Lancashire.
These bungalows are part of the Yew Tree Park development off Chancel Way.

Building work of industrial units continues on the Burscough industrial estate in West Lancashire.
The steel frame of this one has largely gone up with more bits of the kit awaiting fixing. It’s like a big flat pack.
The building is on a part of the former HMS Ringtail airfield that was used for a short period of World War two.

The Leeds and Liverpool canal in Burscough has frozen, and the Silcocks fairground “Freak Out” ride is set up near the canal for some winter maintaince.
The ride is set up in the yard of Silcocks Amusements in Burscough in West Lancashire
Burscough is a village on the Leeds and Liverpool Canal about 23 miles from Liverpool and the yard is alongside the canal.

Silcocks fair yard Burscough 29.3.2020.
Due to the coronavirus epidemic most public events in the country have stopped.
This is to prevent people gathering together to try to stop the spread of the virus.
This has affected the travelling amusement fair ground’s so rides and tackle are laid up.
This is the yard of Silcocks Amusements in Burscough in West Lancashire on the morning of Sunday the 29.3.2020 with lorries and rides in the yard which would normally be out as the spring is turning into summer.

Notice on Square Lane post office 26.3.2020
Due to the coronavirus epidemic a lot of retail businesses in the country have been ordered to close their doors to the public.
This is to prevent people gathering together to try to stop the spread of the virus.
The Post Office has said they will stay open, however when the Postmaster and Mistress are in the vulnerable age group this post office in Burscough has closed for the time being.
The owners have placed this notice on the door.
